Q. What is an online local directory?
A. An online local directory is a website that lists businesses within categories so they can be easily found. These directories allow business owners to list their business, get their name in front of the customers, and give customers the information they need to contact the business. It makes local products and services more accessible to people.
Q. As a product or service provider, what can I include on the directory website?
- Name of Business
- Telephone number
- Email Address
- Product or service summary
- Map Display
- Business Tagline
- Image Gallery
- Business Hours
- Social Media Features
- Blog Features
- Links to Social Media
- Display of Deals, Offers and Discounts
Q. Is your directory the same as a search engine?
A.Online local directories often have a search function within them. This makes it easier for users to quickly find the business they’re looking for, without having to search through thousands of listings. It is NOT an actual search engine though. Remember Southside Links is SPECIFIC to Soufriere. So, when you do a search, you will only find people in Soufriere, and not get people from all over the island. This is what’s great about it! If you’re looking for a plumber, you need one that is close by.
Q.Why is it important that my business be listed in an online local directory?
A.Nearly EVERYBODY now has a smartphone. There is so much information right there, literally at your fingertips! People use their phones to find out all sorts of information and local directories are the first place they go to find out local information. We used to reach for the paper directory but now we don’t do that, especially if we are out and about. If your product or service is not listed on that directory, chances are your competition’s is, leaving you completely out of the picture. Your product or service is needed but if nobody knows about it, you will just be keeping your gifts to yourself and leaving money on the table. That’s why it is so important to have your business listed in a local directory. There’s no point in being Soufriere’s best-kept secret!
Q. Can a small business profit from using online local directories?
A.Absolutely! Southside Links is not an ordinary directory like Yelp, Yellow Pages or Bing. It’s not just for the big boys! This is specifically for the town of Soufriere (and close environs) and ANYBODY can have a listing. It doesn’t matter if you’re a company with 40 employees, a small business with 4 employees, or a single mother with only 4 hours a week available for your side hustle. EVERYBODY is welcome to list their products, services, gifts and talents on the Southside Links Website. You just have to be in, or close to, Soufriere.
Q. I’m not too good with computers. How easy is it to get my business on the website?
A. Very easy! You can do it all yourself and it just takes a few minutes. All you need beforehand is an email address. Just go to the Southside Links website Home Page and click on ‘Add Listing’ at the top right hand corner and enter some basic information about your business. We will then be notified that there is a new application and we will check it out and if it’s okay, we publish and you’re good to go! You will be sent a password so you can log in and manage your account from your personal Dashboard. You can find tutorials on our YouTube channel.
If this is all too much for you or you just don’t have time, then we can take care of everything for you for a small fee. Please email us at email@example.com with your request.
Q. Will being on your directory help my brand image?
A.Most certainly, if you do it right! Rather than just having your basic info with a free listing, you can invest in an upgrade to a Silver or Gold listing. This gives you access to more features and you can show off your business in a more visual and attractive way. You can have photos of your products or events and even upload a YouTube video advertising your business. This will make your business stand out from the competition as you will have a more professional look.
